The Arctic Challenge for Sustainability III (ArCS Ⅲ: FY2025-2029) is the third phase of the Arctic Challenge for Sustainability (ArCS), which has been a national flagship project for Arctic research since FY2015. The project consists of three strategic goals from natural sciences, social sciences, and interdisciplinary research. Our department is responsible for the strategic goal ② "Contributing to the construction of a society that adapts to changes in the Arctic environment" (coordinated by Prof. Yoshihiro Iijima) and the terrestrial human sphere task "Wide-area visualization and utilization of terrestrial environmental changes with human sphere impacts."

The kick-off workshop was held on June 5. Our laboratory presented the following:

  • Yoshihiro Iijima: Strategic Goal 2: "Contributing to the development of a society that adapts to environmental changes in the Arctic region" (Oral)
  • Yoshihiro Iijima: Large-scale visualization and utilization of land environment changes that have a significant impact on the human sphere (Land Life Science research) (Oral)
